LEARNING
EARLY
PARTNERSHIPs

LOGAN, in partnership with 11 pre-identified childcare programs across St. Joseph County, will deploy a multi-disciplinary team of therapists, including a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and behavior supports, to serve children with complex developmental, medical, and behavioral needs and their families.
This comprehensive three-year early intervention initiative will create more inclusive childcare environments by embedding therapists directly in childcare settings to deliver integrated services including teacher training, consultation, classroom support, on-site developmental screenings, individualized therapeutic services (for both First Steps-eligible children and those who do not qualify), family mental health support, and specialized behavioral interventions.
In November 2025, a comprehensive needs assessment began with identified partners. Hiring (see below for open positions) and onboarding of the therapeutic team will begin in early 2026.
The initiative will be implemented across 11 childcare programs throughout St. Joseph County, with therapists embedded directly in these childcare environments to provide on-site services and support. To ensure accessibility for all families, LOGAN will offer complimentary child and caregiver classes, Milestone Moments sessions, and developmental screenings at no cost to participants. To learn more, see below.

The initiative will begin with a comprehensive needs assessment surveying the 11 participating childcare programs to identify gaps and priorities. Based on these findings, LOGAN will hire and onboard the therapeutic team who will deliver evidence-based interventions on-site, model inclusive classroom strategies, facilitate free caregiver-child groups, and provide 1:1 services as needed—all while addressing barriers related to insurance coverage, diagnoses, and access.
By embedding therapeutic services directly in childcare environments, this innovative model removes traditional barriers to early intervention and ensures that all children, regardless of insurance status or formal diagnosis, can access the developmental support they need in the settings where they spend their days. This approach promotes inclusion, supports educators, strengthens families, and creates lasting systemic change in how St. Joseph County serves its youngest and most vulnerable children.

Free Caregiver - Child Classes
These 6-week classes are designed to help your child accomplish gross motor milestones. These 45-minute weekly classes will teach parents/guardians new and fun ways to encourage their child to achieve milestones - such as rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking. Classes are created and led by licensed therapists and early childhood experts.
