Just in time for spring break, LOGAN Child & Adolescent Services will be offering free group swimming lessons at the YMCA in South Bend for children already enrolled in services. Taught by certified swim instructors, the classes begin Feb. 26 and continue for seven weeks. A staff person from LOGAN will assist with the lessons, and additional lifeguards will be on duty. Two classes will be offered, Swim Starters for 2- and 3-year-olds and Swim Basics for 3- to 12-year-olds.
In Swim Starters, toddlers will learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness. A parent must go in the water with each child.
In Swim Basics, children will learn personal water safety and build basic swimming competency. A parent must be present but is not expected to go in the water.
These classes are made possible by a grant from Autism Speaks!
Call Megan Drzewiecki, LOGAN Child and Adolescent Services Manager, at 574-289-4831, to register your child. Classes are limited to 15 children, so don’t wait. A $10 deposit must be received before a spot will be assigned, but the deposit will be returned upon completion of lessons.
