LOGAN’s Run kickoff event this Thursday

MISHAWAKA, Indiana (July 20, 2016) – A kick-off celebration in preparation for the 13th annual LOGAN’s Run will take place Thursday, July 28, at Fleet Feet Sports, 3522 Grape Road in Mishawaka from 5 to 7 p.m. Interested runners can register at the event as well as win LOGAN’s Run merchandise. Fleet Feet will offer a $15 coupon to anyone who registers or has registered already for LOGAN’s Run.

LOGAN’s Run begins in the early morning on Saturday, Aug. 6 and is for competitors of any ability. More than 1,500 runners and walkers participate in the annual event to raise awareness, advocacy and support for children, adults and families living with the challenges of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event features chip-timed 10k and 5k runs and a 1-mile Fun Walk, all on a trail weaving through the campus of Notre Dame.

Heath White, who shared his personal story of finding perfection in his daughter Paisley with a local audience in the spring, returns to South Bend to run the 10-kilometer race while pushing a LOGAN client in a racing wheelchair. A former military pilot, now an FBI agent and endurance runner, White has participated in more than 30 marathons, including 12 with Paisley, who has Down syndrome. In March, he was the keynote speaker at the annual LOGAN Nose-On Luncheon. There he told the audience his honest and moving story of first rejecting, but then fully accepting his daughter.
