SOUTH BEND, Indiana (June 8, 2017) – The Board of Directors for LOGAN Community Resources, Inc., has selected Matt Harrington as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. Harrington will replace outgoing President/CEO Clint Bolser, who announced his intention to relocate to his hometown in Richmond, Indiana. Harrington will assume the role on July 10.
Harrington most recently served as the President and CEO of the United Way of St. Joseph County (IN), beginning in September 2014. Under his leadership Harrington led the transformation of United Way into an impact organization, developing a Community Impact Plan focused on a collective approach to reducing poverty in St. Joseph County. He created a culture of fiscal growth and responsibility, which saw an increase in the diversification of revenues while improving operational efficiency.
Prior to his time at United Way, Harrington spent eight years at LOGAN, three of those as Vice President of Organizational Advancement. In this role, he oversaw the advancement of the LOGAN mission through fund development, marketing and employment services. During his time at LOGAN, Harrington says the accomplishment he is most proud of is co-authoring a series of books, More Class Meetings that Matter, written for school children to address the bullying of students with disabilities.
“LOGAN has always been a special place to me. I look forward to re-joining the organization as President & CEO,” Harrington said. “Its staff, board of directors, volunteers, donor investors and ultimately the people who LOGAN serves offer an incredible experience for those involved in its mission. I am humbled, yet proud, to have been selected to lead LOGAN now and into the future.”
“After a thorough search, we found the best fit for our organization right here in our community with Matt. His skills and passion will lead LOGAN well into the future,” said Trent Grocock, Chair of LOGAN’s Board of Directors.
Harrington is actively involved in Michiana, having served in a variety of volunteer board and advisory positions including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Ready to Grow St. Joe Early Childhood Coalition, Indiana University South Bend School of Education, Saint Mary’s College Masters in Speech Language Pathology Program and the Jr. Irish Soccer Club. Harrington graduated from Indiana University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs and is also a 2013 graduate of the University of Notre Dame Executive Fund Development Leadership Program.
Born and raised in Valparaiso, Harrington is married to Shannon and has three daughters—Lindsay, Katie and Lauren. A long-time runner, Harrington has participated in seven marathons including two Boston Marathons in 2007 and 2008. Shortly after, he began competing in triathlons highlighted by Ironman Wisconsin and numerous Ironman 70.3 events.
