 What is Best Buddies?
Best Buddies is an international organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one on one friendships. The ND/SMC chapter of Best Buddies pursues this mission by matching up people from the community with disabilities and college students. These friendships provide support and meaning for both the community and college buddies. Valuable friendships evolve as these pairs enjoy activities on campus and in the community.
Who is eligible to join?
If you are a Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, or Holy Cross College student willing to commit your time to developing a friendship with a person with a intellectual disability, consider joining Best Buddies! If you are a teen or young adult with a disability who would like to get involved as a community buddy, we would love to hear from you. If you are a Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s or Holy Cross College student, contact the club advisor, Marissa Runkle.

Is there a waiting list?
While there is not a waiting list for college volunteers, there is a waiting list for community buddies. You will be asked to complete an application and will be placed on a list if necessary. We will do our best to get you involved.
