The heart and soul of LOGAN revolves around advocacy for persons with disabilities. LOGAN lives this commitment daily through the Protective Services program. Protective Services offers the security that trained professionals and volunteers will be there with the right supports for individuals who do not have involved families.

Protective Services staff and volunteers truly become 'family' for the individuals they serve.

In 1974, LOGAN took a proactive stance on advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. Concerned about those who could not speak for themselves, many of whom were living in institutional settings or who had no involved families, LOGAN took action. A Protective Services Board was established and staff were selected in order to develop long term relationships and advocacy services for those in need. LOGAN's Protective Services continues to be perceived nationally as unique to the arena of service providers.

Protective Services has branched out to meet diverse needs and now provides services to over 125 individuals annually. A wide range of people with disabilities benefit from supports through Protective Services. The diversity served is reflected in those who are trying to live on their own in the community, those who are more severely disabled, those living in an institution or nursing home with no family support, and those who find themselves in abusive or neglectful situations.
